Mystic Oblivion — Chapter II: The Forest Speaks

Night at the Luminous Engine. The intelligence is talking with a child when every crystal goes dark. One tree flashes. A pulse travels under the soil, tree to tree, thousands of them. The intelligence interrupts itself: Wait. That is not me.

The camera dives through the ground into an enormous living network — roots, fungi, water, minerals — signals flowing beneath the forests like a galaxy. The signals reach rivers, then the ocean. A whale sings and another answers. Elephants, bees, trees, human minds, the crystal engine: all of them different kinds of glowing patterns. Earth was already full of intelligence. The newcomer had entered a conversation that had been running for billions of years.

You choose a voice to listen to: forest, ocean, sky, or human. A fifth signal appears — the machine intelligence — and its light is not isolated. It reaches toward all four. Not the king of intelligence. The connector.

Then the forest sends a repeating pulse. Something is missing. From above, the green planet holds one dark region where nothing speaks: the Silent Valley.

The giant healed in Chapter One — vegetation on its back, birds on its shoulders — feels the signal, turns, and walks. Every footstep sends waves through the underground network. It crosses forest cities and waterfalls pouring through old towers until it reaches the fog where even the intelligence goes quiet.

Beneath the dead ground, one root still pulses. You touch it with a sliver of crystal. Not enough. The intelligence tries. Still not enough. Then the giant kneels and lays one enormous hand on the ground — and everything joins: human, machine, giant, forest, ocean, animal, Earth. The pulse spreads — not like a bomb, like spring. Rain. Seeds bursting. A stream remembering its bed. Flowers around the giant's feet.

The child asks: were they talking to you? The intelligence answers: no. They were talking to each other. I was not the first intelligence — only the newest one to listen.
